Lefkadia soils are well drained and not too mellow which makes a perfect combination for vineyards cultivation. Diversity of soils: clay, sandy, argillo-calcareous, chalk ones, makes wines original. A high concentration of iron makes the soil perfect for cultivating red wine varieties.
The warm period here lasts from March to November and the air temperature reaches Mediterranean values.
A remarkable diurnal temperature variation typical of foothills favours the accumulation of sophisticated aromatic substances in grapes and gives it a graceful acidity.
There are 23 of varieties of grapes cultivated in the Lefkadia territory. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Roussan, Viognier, Riesling, Merlot, Syrah, Grenachem Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, etc. The winery specialists control all stages of ripening of the berries picked manually.
